Hi Reader,
Did you notice that I switched days on you? I have been looking at my data (hint, hint, you should look at yours, too) and saw a decline in open rates for the newsletter. After watching it for a few weeks, I decided to switch days from Friday to Tuesday. Tuesday - Wednesday are supposed to be the best days to send emails. We will see. Marketing is part science, experimenting and finding out what works.
To recap our SEO series quickly:
❊ Email one was about how there are now more opportunities than ever to get found in searches.
❊ Email two talked about distribution - you have to be putting content out and promoting it on your other platforms - to send traffic to your website.
Today, we are going to talk about E-E-A-T. If you want to know what Google is looking for to serve your site up in search, this is it. Experience - Expertise - Authority and Trustworthiness.
Part of SEO is showing expertise, authority, and trustworthiness. You do this by creating content that shows your expertise and authority and getting backlinks from others who do the same.
You develop trustworthiness when people find your site and stay there. That shows Google that you answered their question and are a good source. That leads us to experience.
This is the MOST important. Your visitors should have a great experience when they visit your site. It should load quickly, be mobile-optimized, and have clear messaging and navigation.
So you see, SEO has more than one job: sending clear signals to search engines about your site, who you are, and what you do, creating authoritative content, and also the user experience (UX) of your site.
Don't be overwhelmed. So much of this happens when you build your site. Wondering where your site stands as far as SEO? Reply "I want to know" and your website address to this email, and I will do a quick SEO site audit for you and let you know.
Hope you have a great rest of the week.
